Idearella works primarily on observations, exercises and speculations. Finally there is a post with hard resources!
Included here are resources for brain, cognition and creativity. Some of them are single articles, some are article lists.
Please note, dear ‘Rellas, that I have not read every articles that you will find in the links. I’m discovering much more than I thought I would (and why should that surprise me…).

How the Brain Works |
This short primer gets you right in the mood for more brain reading. It also explains the term gray matter and its opposite: white matter.
2 |
Center for the Mind |
Professor Allan Snyder is the director and primary researcher of this department at University of Sydney. The articles listed in their publications section are quite interesting – and there’s a lot of them. One article not listed on this page is Genius Machine, a thinking-cap concept. You can find a complete review of it here.
3 |
Scientific American – Thought & Cognition |
Of course SciAm is always a good source for brain stuff. This section on Thought & Cognition could keep one reading for days!
4 |
John Cleese |
If you’ve clicked on all three of the above, you probably need a bit of a rest. This post and video of the workings of the brain on Boing Boing will give you just the brain break you need to continue with this list.
5 |
Michael Ramscar |
Access the articles by this team that researches “concepts, reasoning and language” to better explain learning and memory.
6 |
Cyberkinetics and BrainGate |
Although not necessarily a resource for cognition and creativity, these press releases and articles look very interesting. There are even some videos.
7 |
Brain & Creativity Center |
Although I can’t seem to find their articles for lay people (I’ve emailed them to ask), the Brain and Creativity Center at USC looks to be an awesome place to research. This page has an awesome little video on the left of a brain MRI.
Please comment if you find a particular article really good or really bad, or for any other reason.
I will read through the articles in the next few weeks. Look for a 10 Best Articles for Thinking, Creativity & Cognition post soon, as well as a 10 Best Thinking & Creativity Blogs post.

What a wonderful collection of links! I’ve put this on Stumbleupon, and am making a mental note to go to SciAm’s Thought and Cognition section soon.
Thank you for the resources!
It was all due to your request, Ashok!
Thank YOU!
